About Liana E. Evans

So How'd Ya Get Here?

Liana Li Evans, SEO Professional, Search Marketing GurusSo, you want to know a little more about me, Liana "Li" Evans, eh? Well sit back, grab the popcorn and relax - I'll be totally candid here, since this is my space, and I'm just not a stuffy uptight person!

I've been a technology "geek girl" since I was in 6th grade and I found the Commodore Vic 20, Apple IIe and Tandy TRS80 in my 6th grade math room. I've got Mr. Anthony Vebrosky to thank for setting me on my way. Within no time I was creating programs in BASIC without much assistance and begged and pleaded with my parents to get me a computer, I didn't want the Atari, I wanted that silly keyboard that hooked to my TV and had less memory than a normal picture size here on the web today.

I went to Vo-Tech, of course the "stigma" around high school tech schools is that it's for the "not so smart". I even had a teacher tell me I'd amount to nothing because I went to Vo-Tech, amazing considering he never asked me what I went to Vo-Tech for. When I graduated with my computer technology diploma, I had a job offer or two - and that was without a college diploma in hand. So much for THAT teacher's opinion!

I decided though at the time, I didn't want to be stuck behind a computer all day pounding out code, that I like the interaction of working on a team, or with a customer and I loved figuring out how to make people buy or want to buy things, or how to present a company in a great way to the public. So I set off to college to get a degree in communications and to somehow combine the these two passions of mine. After graduating with and Associate Degree and trying to figure out just how to combine these two, the internet was just taking off. I taught myself HTML, Javascript, VB Script and how to design websites. I knew something was "there" too when these sites of mine starting ranking in these first search engines that were out there.

So with that realization, I went back to school to finish up my Bachelor's degree in Information Systems. I poured myself into web application programming and database programming, learned ASP, Cold Fusion, and immersed myself into SQL working with both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.

After graduating with that degree, I worked in Virgina and Houston and finally came back to PA doing web application programming and database programming - still on the side, really loving this search marketing stuff.

Over the years after the "Internet Bubble" burst, Search MArketing really started coming into its own and I set off to make this my career. So, here I am - waking up in the morning and loving what I do for a living.

On a More Personal Side

I'm an avid Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, Chamed and Angle as well. I gobble up books by Terry Brooks, Mercedes Lackey and Tad Williams. I'm a Ren Fair "groupie" - yes I even dress up from time to time! That leads me to my other love - all things Pirates. It isn't just a fad with me because of Pirates of the Carribean, I've been collecting Pirate stuff for close to 15 years now.

Then there's that Philly Sports Chick side of me. As bad as our teams choke, I still am a fan. I bleed green in the fall, the Eagles are my team, no matter how much I want to throw a brick at my TV. I love the Flyers too, and the Philadlephia Soul. I don't follow the Phillies or Sixers as much, but still, they are a Philly Team!

I have a soft spots for dogs of the Site Hound category - I've got two greyhounds (rescues) and a saluki. Reilly is the best dog anyone could ask for, not necessarly a gaurd dog, but a great "Best Friend" - he's my oldest greyhound. Bronco's the barker and he prances and a general sweetie. Luke's my saluki, he should have been named Tigger, he is my "ADD Dog" LOL, but I love him to death too.

Probably the last "personal" thing you ought to know about me -- I love country music and 80's music. From Kenny Chesney to Johnny Cash, I love it all, my radio barely moves from the country station here in Philly - WXTU.

And if you haven't figured it out, I love Online Marketing! :)
